Salah Al-Khawaja is a member of the GMJ International Central Committee. He is chair of the ‘Nil’in Popular Resistance Committee’ which organizes weekly demonstrations against the anti-terrorist fence constructed in order to protect Israeli civilians from suicide bombings and other terror attacks. In recent weeks, the organisers have declared their demonstrations to be “in solidarity” with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s Khadr Adnan.
Despite Al-Khawaja’s frequent references to ‘peaceful popular protest’ in the press, the demonstrations often descend into violence and are frequently attended by foreigners from organisations such as the ISM and Codepink.
